Kate Middleton and Prince William Debut the Royal Baby in Matching Blues

by Elana Fishman

Today, at about 2:15 pm EST (that's 7:15 pm GMT), Kate Middleton and Prince William stepped out of the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital in London with their new baby son-still unnamed for the time being-in tow. Perhaps in honor of the new Prince of Cambridge, both proud parents wore pale blue; a polka-dotted Jenny Packham dress paired with nude wedge heels (!) for Kate, an oxford shirt with rolled-up sleeves for Wills. In addition to being downright pretty, however, the Duchess' outfit choice is also symbolic; back when Princess Diana and Prince Charles left St. Mary's with their newborn baby William back in 1982, Diana too opted for a blue polka-dotted number (pictured below).

"He's got her looks, thankfully," Prince William joked as he greeted the throngs of press, adding, "he's got a lot more [hair] than I do!" Speaking of hair, Kate's looked predictably flawless-her hairdresser reportedly paid her a visit at the hospital earlier today to prep her for her much-photographed departure.
