Looks like 'Ugly Shoes' Are Sticking Around for Another Season

by Elana Fishman

Have you noticed a crazy amount of Birkenstocks-and possibly even Tevas, those Velcro-strapped sporty sandals beloved by outdoorsy dads across the globe-on the feet of fashion people lately?

You're not alone-and you'd better get on board if you aren't already, because it looks like the "ugly shoe" trend will be sticking around for at least another year. Back during the first few days of NYFW, we noticed a preponderance of hippie-type sandals on the runway; as the New York shows came to a close and the European collections kicked off, we continued to spot tons of offbeat platforms and chunky soles on the catwalks, proving this particular trend has international appeal.

Click through above to see eight other shows that offered up oddball, off-kilter and remarkably orthopedic-looking shoes. Now, who's ready to slip into something a little more comfortable?
