Meet the Midi Skirt, Your Fall Fashion Secret Weapon

by Elana Fishman

Sure, we love our minis-and maxi skirts obviously have their time and place, too. But lately, we've been particularly drawn to the in-between midi length when shopping for skirts. Ending anywhere from just below the knee to a few inches above the ankle, the midi skirt-or tea skirt, as it's sometimes called-is this season's easiest-to-style piece.

Why? For starters, it's perfect for the chilly temperatures that arrive in late fall and continue on 'til early spring. Wear your midi with a pair of knee-high boots, and no skin goes uncovered (and thus frostbitten). Teamed with pumps, a midi skirt's the epitome of Mad Men polish. And for those of you who live in eternal fear of a Marilyn Monroe-style moment of overexposure, fear not: in a calf-length skirt, you're virtually guaranteed to keep everything under wraps, all while making your waist look teeny-tiny and your legs appear miles long. And lest you worry your look creep into overly ladylike territory, rest assured that below-the-knee skirts look equally fantastic combined with a casual top-like a graphic sweatshirt or worn-in denim jacket.

Want to get in on the midi action for yourself? Click through above to shop our favorite tea-length stunners at a wide variety of price points! And remember: just because you're wearing a midi doesn't mean you're doing things halfway.
