"A nude lipstick with too much white or brown pigment can look flat. Instead, choose a fleshy shade. Fair skin tones look best with a nude that has a touch of peach or pink, while medium skin tones look great with a golden nude. Dark skin tones should go with a soft almond or deep toffee nude"

I'll wear loud orange lip colors, punchy pinks and even goth-like purples, but simple nude lipsticks intimidate me. In theory, a barely-there lip color seems like an easy, subtle way to add polish to any look. But in real life, I've found it challenging to find a shade that won't make me look like I stepped out of a cheesy '90s music video or worse-a walking corpse. So I asked Maybelline makeup artist Melissa Silver to spill the secret to pulling off nude lipstick. Click through above for her expert tips!
