The Page of Innocence: 7 Great Books to Read Aloud with Your Kids

I grew up in a home filled with books. Not because my parents were big on reading but because my father worked in a book factory. My parents worked so hard and so much that they didn't have time to read with me. So my love of literature came about out of loneliness and boredom. When my son Norrin was born, I knew I wanted him to love reading. These days, kids have so much to fill their days, they're not likely to open a book if bored. I needed to not only set the example for my son, but I needed to make it part of our everyday life. Today is World Read Aloud Day and LitWorld is encouraging individuals to celebrate to Read it Forward by "reading aloud, giving away a book, or taking action in any way you can to Read It Forward on behalf of the 793 million people who cannot read."
