On Ruff Ground: 7 Dog-Friendly Camp Sites Across the U.S

If money were no object it would be my dream to camp my way across the country with my husband and daughter teaching her a year of U.S. history. There is really no bonding experience for a family quite like getting in to the great outdoors. So if your summer plans include camping, why not bring your pup along for the love-fest? From the California to Maine, I scoured the web for animal-lovers favorite spots to camp with their pooch. When taking pets in to the wild (or the closest state of the art campground) make sure that they are well behaved and able to stay quiet through the night - even dog-friendly camp sites will have quiet hours and general rules of conduct. Something to keep in mind when planning your trip? Your pet will need to be on a leash no longer than six feet when they're not confined to your tent or vehicle, so if your canine companion likes to run around, you may look for a site that has an off-leash dog park on premises, like Disney's Fort Wilderness campground in Florida, as well as many others. Check out these dog-friendly camp sites for your next adventure! - Morgan Shanahan
