Denim has come a long, long way since Levi Strauss & Co. created jeans for working men way back in 1873. Fast-forward more than 100 years to now, from bell-bottoms and pegged cuffs to acid wash and jeggings, popular denim trends serve as a timeline throughout history. In recent years, women have gotten increasingly experimental with their jeans of choice, opting for bright colors, zipper adornments, leathery coated fabric, and patterns like floral, striped, and camo. Since ladies are willing to take more risks, designers have upped the ante this season, and some jeans have taken a seriously ugly turn. For every perfect-fitting pair of dark skinny jeans, there is an equally hideous pair adorned with studs, patches, chains, and metallic animal print.
