Prince George Is Officially on the Record

The world has been enamored with the royal baby since December, when the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced they were going to have a baby, but Prince George, born on July 22, only officially exists as of this morning, when Kate and William formally registered his birth, according to a report from the U.K. magazine Hello.

And the legal name is a mouthful, requiring almost two lines to write: His Royal Highness Prince George Alexander Louis of Cambridge. Also on the document are the names and occupations of his mother and father—a change from when Prince William himself was born in 1982. Until 1984, there was no box on the form for a mother's occupation.

On the certificate, William lists himself as "Prince of the United Kingdom" and Kate as "Princess of the United Kingdom," which kind of makes it obvious that even though the form they’re filling out is the same on every citizen of the United Kingdom uses after they have a child, this is no ordinary family.

"Princess/Royal Mom" has become an even bigger job since Diana’s day, thanks to the advent of social media and the 24/7 news cycle. Not only does Kate have to deal with reporters watching her every move – and reporting on  every item of clothing she wears, like a nursing dress from Seraphine – but every parenting choice , from breastfeeding to boarding school, will almost certainly be scrutinized on a level Princess Diana didn’t have to deal with. Add that pressure to the fact that William has to head back to work on Monday as a Royal Air Force Pilot and it's clear that Kate may be dealing with more than a little bit of stress.

The best way to combat the effects of 24/7 attention? A little R&R, of course, which the royal couple will hopefully get soon. Ireland's Belfast Telegraph reports that William hopes to bring the family to a secluded lakeside villa in Switzerland to unwind in the next few weeks. Yes, even royals need to relax!
