You don't need to spend a fortune on pricey treatments and products to get younger-looking skin. Here are seven easy, effective ways to help turn back the clock. By Marissa Oliva, REDBOOK.
Exfoliate for a glowing complexion
It removes dead cells that build up and dull your complexion (not to mention, plug your pores). Plus, it helps your anti-aging ingredients penetrate more effectively. But no need to go overboard: twice a week will keep your skin clear and radiant. Try Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Pore Scrub ($7.49).
Use a hydrating face wash
Choose one that cleanses and moisturizes with ingredients like glycerin, hyaluronic acid, and ceramides. These soften the skin--as opposed to stripping it. We like CeraVe Hydrating Cleanser ($10.39).
Apply products in the right order
Put active ingredients like retinol or an antioxidant serum on first since they have a tough time penetrating through heavy moisturizer. Because they tend to make the skin a little dry, put an emollient moisturizer on top.
Massage your face
It may sound new age-y, but massaging cleanser and moisturizers onto your skin increases circulation and actually helps it look more radiant. Plus, it feels great!
Moisturize while skin is damp
Put on moisturizer right after washing your face--before it's completely dry. This seals water into your skin before it evaporates, so you'll end up using less product in the long run.
Ease into retinoids
Retinoids speed up skin-cell turnover to make skin smoother and more even and stimulate collagen production, which helps reduce wrinkles. If you've never used one before, start with two nights a week and gradually work up to applying it every other day. We're fans of Olay Pro-X Deep Wrinkle Treatment ($29.99). To minimize dryness or irritation, layer a gentle lotion like Cetaphil Moisturizing Lotion ($10.99) on top.

Wear sunscreen every single day
Wearing SPF 30 or higher is the best anti-aging prevention there is. Sun exposure destroys collagen and causes wrinkles, brown spots, and sagging skin. And you're exposed to UV light on cloudy days too, so get in the habit of using a moisturizer with sunscreen daily. Try Aveeno's Positively Radiant Daily Moisturizer Broad Spectrum SPF 30 ($16.99).
