Behold: 3 Deserving Moms' Special Mother's Day Makeovers

With Mother's Day Sunday looming large, we're reminded yet again that mothers tend to put everyone else's needs before their own. And while it's fine and dandy to thank your selfless mom with breakfast in bed and a lovely floral arrangement, we thought we'd up the ante and give three very deserving moms -- and their grateful daughters -- top notch makeovers.

And, when we say deserving, we don't just mean that they navigate a rough carpool route or turn out kick-butt cupcakes. From battling cancer to lending time to charitable causes, we figured that these mom-daughter duos (like the rest of them out there) could surely use a day of unadulterated indulgence, so we took them to the famed Warren-Tricomi Salon in New York City where co-owners Edward Tricomi and Joel Warren themselves, and makeup artist Misty Chapman, treated the women to a new hairstyle, a fun makeup look, and a day of mother-daughter bonding time. See their stunning makeovers now.

Mary Anne and Maureen Before

Mary Anne, 59, and Maureen, 30, are extremely close and decided to train together for a 5K race to benefit the American Heart Association. Maureen is a teacher and describes herself to be "pretty low-maintenance -- I've never even colored my hair," while Mary Anne is looking for something versatile.

Hair

Warren wants to boost their brunette hair to a richer hue with sun-kissed highlights on top. He uses a balayage technique to paint highlights into their hair, which he says will "create dimension and look really pretty when she moves." As for their cut, Tricomi says, "They don't need anything drastic. I'm going to soften the shapes and give them both soft layers around their faces."

Makeup
Chapman says the pair has gorgeous eyes, "so that's where I'm putting the emphasis." She uses dark plum shadows on Mary Anne, and on Maureen she opts for a pale wash of purple.

Mary Anne and Maureen After
Both Mary Anne and Maureen say they love their new looks. "I feel transformed," says Mary Anne. "I came in here with a head of unruly, no-definition hair, and I'm leaving with a polished, beautiful look that I'll be able to do on my own." Maureen also loves her look saying, "It's not anything too drastic, which I love."

Eleanora and Ilona Before

Eleanora's husband left her when her daughter, Ilona was just a teenager. Ilona, now 31, and Eleanora, 55, have become close from making the best of the situation. Eleanora is now happily remarried, and Ilona is finishing her master's degree at Columbia University. Both women can't wait to get glammed up even though their everyday beauty routines are minimal.

Hair

Warren turns Eleanora into a blonde. He uses different shades of golden blonde for dimension that isn't too drastic. For Ilona, Warren goes for honey-brown ends for a modern take on the ombré style. Tricomi then gives the women's hair some shape with layers and big bouncy curls.

Makeup

Chapman gives Ilona a smoky eye for a young, fun look. And for mom, she gives her a more natural look, focusing on making her skin glow with bronzer and highlighter.

Eleanora and Ilona After

Both mom and daughter say they feel more confident with their new looks. "I love it -- I don't think I've ever loved a change as much as this one," says Ilona. "And my mom looks great!" Eleanora wanted to look younger and the makeover team definitely accomplished that.

Carol and Laura Before

For Carol, 63, and Laura, 33, this makeover is more than just a haircut and some eyeshadow -- it's a celebration of life. Carol's cancer has been in remission since 2007, and Laura was by her side through the most difficult times. "She's a great mom," says Laura, an ESL teacher. "I see the kids at my school and they don't have the kind of family life I have -- I'm very lucky."

Hair

Carol admits dying her hair at home, which resulted in having gray roots, brown hair, and blonde ends. Warren says he's going to correct it with a warm golden brown wash. "It should work perfectly with her bangs and straight bob haircut," he says. Tricomi wants to taper her bob at her jawline. For Laura's color, the stylist says he'll give her some rich red-brown highlights, and a conditioning treatment for extra shine. Tricomi gives Laura flattering layers for more movement.

Makeup

Both mother and daughter deal with dark under-eye circles, so Chapman begins layering on concealer. "I'm using a highlighting concealer, which will reflect light and make the circles much less obvious," says the makeup artist. She focuses on perfecting their skin and adding brightness to their cheeks with pink blush.

Carol and Laura After

The pair is thrilled about their new, youthefying looks. "It was so wonderful to spend time together today," says Carol. "And we look great, too," says Laura. "I absolutely love my hair. I wonder if the kids at school will notice." They give each other a hug for their pictures in Central Park.
