The Best Beauty Looks from the Golden Globe Awards

While the stars were reliably flawless at this year's Golden Globe Awards, most played it fairly safe on the beauty front, choosing voluminous updos, soft waves, and neutral makeup. Here are a few of our favorite Globes hair and makeup looks, along with expert tips on how to get them at home.

Kate Beckinsale

To re-create Kate's modern, tousled updo, Pureology PureArtist Natasha Sunshine recommends applying Pureology Fortifying Heat Spray and Root Lift to damp hair, then blow-drying with a flat brush. Next, create a high ponytail and apply a small amount of AntiBreakage Twist to create texture and definition. Tease the ponytail slightly with a comb and then twist it around the base, securing with bobby pins. (visit Pureology.com for salons)

Laura Dern

Celebrity tanning expert Fiona Locke personally created a customized skin finish for Laura Dern. Get Dern's glow by using St. Tropez Wash Off Instant Glow Body Lotion ($18, Sttropeztan.com). This lightweight lotion allows you to have a perfect tan instantly, without orange streaks or unpredictable results, and washes off at the end of the day. For the ultimate polished look, finish with a dusting of St. Tropez Bronzing Rocks across the cheekbones, collarbones, and décolleté. ($40, Sttropeztan.com)

Seven Great Celeb Makeovers for 2012

Michelle Williams

To instantly glam-ify a pretty pixie cut, add a fun hair accessory, like this black ribbon-wrapped headband from Juicy Couture, adorned with a festive clutch of stones. ($29.90, Nordstrom.com)

Tina Fey

Hairstylist Richard Marin used Oribe Hair Care products to create Tina Fey's sexy voluminous waves. He applied Oribe Crème for Style ($34, Barneys.com) on her damp hair before blow-drying with a round boar-bristle brush. Once Tina's hair was dry, he misted Oribe Royal Blowout Heat Styling Spray ($42, Neiman Marcus) and then used a Remington Keratin Therapy 1" Flat Iron ($49.99,Remingtonproducts.com) to create soft, shiny waves. To finish, he flipped Tina's hair upside down and sprayed Oribe Impermeable Anti-Humidity Spray ($38. Barneys.com) to create hold with lots of volume.

Sarah Michelle Gellar

In a sea of actresses wearing safe neutrals, Sarah Michelle Gellar stood out with her beautiful periwinkle eye makeup. Get the look by applying a shadow primer, then shading lids with L'Oréal Studio Secrets Professional Eye Shadow in Violet Petal ($4.79, drugstores). Sweep the shadow along the lower lash line, line both the upper and lower rims with black powder liner, then finish with black mascara.
