The Best of Clinique: A Tribute to Evelyn Lauder

Evelyn Lauder, the senior vice president of the Estée Lauder Companies and wife of its heir, Leonard Lauder, passed away this weekend after a battle with ovarian cancer. She'll undoubtedly be celebrated for her greatest legacy: founding the Breast Cancer Research Foundation and helping it raise a breathtaking $350 million to date. But a lesser-known fact is that Mrs. Lauder coined the name Clinique and was the first to wear the white lab coat when she became the brand's training director in 1968. I'm paying homage to this true beauty queen with a retrospect of the Clinique products I've loved and coveted over the years:

(clockwise)

Moisture Surge Extended Thirst Relief - Oily and dry skin types alike need hydration, and this gel formula delivers it in spades. I leave it on overnight or when I'm flying for guaranteed plumped, glowing skin.

7 Day Scrub Cream Rinse-Off Formula - Although the name is misleading-you'd never want to exfoliate daily with this gritty number-I have a soft spot for the satisfying scrub my college roommate swore kept her skin clear.

Almost Lipstick in Black Honey - There's not a best-of beauty list that hasn't lauded this universally flattering berry balm, or a beauty editor that doesn't have a slim tube tucked in her satchel.

Deep Comfort Body Moisture - It takes a lot to get me excited about lotion, but this one is rich, creamy and smells like eggnog. I really should treat myself to a new tube . . .

Acne Solutions Spot Healing Gel - I don't know what it is about this particular salicylic acid spot treatment that makes it so much more effective than others, but it's the one I keep coming back to.

Turnaround Overnight Radiance Moisturizer - All the exfoliating, skin-toning, sunspot-diminishing properties of a retinol, minus the dryness. I swear it also helps ward off breakouts.

Quickliner for Eyes in Dark Chocolate - The first fancy eyeliner I ever purchased is still my go-to when I need a neutral shade-not too warm like most browns, and not harsh like black. It's also creamy, yet smudge-proof.

Do you have a favorite Clinique product or memory? We'd love to hear about it!
