Birchbox Crush: Lauren Conrad

by Candice Chan, Birchbox

Lauren Conrad has come a long way since Lauren Conrad has come a long way since

In the few years since Lauren Conrad left reality series "The Hills", she's launched two clothing lines (plus an eco-friendly accessories line), created one of our favorite beauty websites--The Beauty Department--and written a handful of fiction and style books. We're dizzy just thinking about it all! On October 16th, Lauren releases Lauren Conrad Beauty, a "how to guide on finding your ultimate beauty potential" with tips on hair and skincare, diet, exercise, and of course, copying her signature cat-eye. We caught up with the busy author to chat product must-haves, beauty quick-fixes, and upcoming projects.

"It was snowing and the heat broke at the offices, so I literally sat writing with gloves and a hat on."

WHAT'S YOUR DAILY BEAUTY REGIMEN?
I wash with a mild cleanser but use a Clarisonic brush. I love the way it cleans my skin gently yet effectively, and even use one on my body in the shower. I also make sure to apply sunscreen daily--I really love Josie Maran's.

ARE THERE ANY MUST-HAVE PRODUCTS THAT YOU ALWAYS KEEP IN YOUR PURSE?
A hairbrush because it always comes in handy, some sort of lip balm to avoid chapped lips in all climates, and eyeliner to achieve my trademark cat-eye.

WHAT'S YOUR BEST TOOL FOR BEAUTY QUICK-FIXES?
I like Aquaphor as it works to soothe dry hands, cuticles, lips, and even removes any eye makeup. Also, using a washcloth to gently scrub away chapped lips.

WHAT BIG PROJECTS ARE YOU WORKING ON THAT WE SHOULD KEEP AN EYE OUT FOR SOON?
I have two new books coming out October 16th. Starstruck [from the L.A. Candy series] is the sequel to The Fame Game, and I also have Lauren Conrad Beauty, which I am so proud of. In addition, I'm really proud of my new line of bags called xo(eco), a line of sustainable and reusable lifestyle products made out of recyclable fibers. We have some amazing bags including a cosmetic travel bag and a hot iron brush bag that can withstand 500 degrees of heat. And I am still designing for LC Lauren Conrad at Kohls and Paper Crown.

WHAT WAS THE MOST MEMORABLE EXPERIENCE FROM PUTTING TOGETHER LAUREN CONRAD BEAUTY?
It was a lot of work but all so much fun-but my most memorable moment was once when I was in New York and trying to meet a deadline on the book. It was snowing and the heat broke at the offices, so I literally sat writing with gloves and a hat on.
