Everyone likes to change up their hair color every now and again-but celebrities seem to go for new shades way more often than us normal folk. Sometimes, the new colors work; and sometimes?... Not so much. How do you think these 12 stars' hair color changes match up with their natural hair colors? Weigh in on Emma Stone, Olivia Wilde, Rachel McAdams, Mary-Kate Olsen, and more!

1. Leighton Meester: Blonde vs. Brunette

Though Leighton has become a familiar face as Blair Waldorf on Gossip Girl, the brunette locks that usually frame that face are naturally blonde. Leighton dyed her hair specifically for her audition before she'd even landed the part. Talk about dedication.

2. Emma Stone: Blonde vs. Red

Emma Stone may look like a cute blonde starlet on the outside-but she's a fiery redhead on the inside. Good thing she's embraced the wonders of a good dye job!

3. Zooey Deschanel: Brunette vs. Blonde

Oof. Bad idea, Zooey.

4. Amy Adams: Blonde vs. Red

Amy Adam's blonde to red transformation may not be as dramatic as Emma Stone's (she's more of a strawberry blonde than a blonde-blonde), but she experienced the same strange phenomenon. Said Amy in 2008, "I've had red hair for the past four years. Before that I never thought of being anything but blonde. There was a definite shift in my life when I decided to go red. When you're blonde, people associate it all with being slirty. With red hair, suddenly you're quirky." And my, how the acting gigs rolled in!

5. Ashley Tisdale: Brunette vs. Blonde

The Disney Channel is responsible for Ashley Tisdale keeping her naturally brunette locks blonde for so many years: She first dyed it for her role on The Suite Life of Zack and Cody and kept it blonde for the duration of the High School Musical franchise. Since then, she's gone back and forth between brown and blonde pretty frequently.

6. Jennifer Lawrence: Blonde vs. Brunette

Jennifer Lawrence's transformation from blonde starlet to brunette huntress Katniss Everdeen forThe Hunger Games was much talked about in the months leading up to the movie's release. While the color change was masterfully done (and will no doubt continue to be so as the trilogy continues), I can't help but think that in real life, blonde suits her personality better. What do you think, Bettys?

7. Olivia Wilde: Brunette vs. Blonde

Olivia Wilde lightened her brown locks in the spring. Is she better of blonde? You tell us!

8. Nicole Kidman: Blonde vs. Red

Nicole Kidman's hair color has changed so many times that we're not entirely sure that the blonde shade it is now is her natural one, though as far as we know, she is a natural blonde. Circa Moulin Rouge, though, she went way, way red. I kind of like her with the red, though that may just be because her current shade of blonde looks pretty fake.

9. Rachel McAdams: Brunette vs. Blonde

To be fair, we could also include a shot of Rachel as a redhead here, but for simplicity's sake, let's keep it between the brunette and the blonde shades for now. According to Craig Moir, Rachel's colorist at Toronto's Salon Dew, the actress' locks are naturally brown, though she likes to experiment a lot (hence the occasional blonde appearances). Somehow, she manages to pull all of them off. She sure lucked out in the gene lottery!

10. Mary-Kate Olsen: Blonde vs. Brunette

All three of the Olsen sisters are naturally blonde, so what a change it was to see Mary-Kate debut a new dark brown shade at the beginning of the summer! Mary-Kate looked sleek and sophisticated at the CFDA Awards in June with her new 'do in an all-black design from her and twin Ashley's own label, The Row. What do you think? Is her look severe, or is it a nice change of pace?

11. Laura Prepon: Brunette vs. Red

Little did you know that That '70s Show's resident redhead has a wavy, brunette mane in real life! The producers of the show asked her to dye it way back at the start. Lately, she's been sporting a blonde look.

12. Lindsay Lohan: Red vs. Blonde

I think we can all agree that La Lohan was at her best before she started bleaching the life out of her naturally red locks. Besides the fact that it just looks healthier when she leaves her mane alone, have you noticed how many natural blondies have dyed their hair red and suddenly had movie roles pouring in? Tons of people would kill for hair LiLo's natural color!
