Did Real Housewives Star Vicki Gunvalson Get a Chin Implant? They're Totally a Thing

When it comes to plastic surgery, what's left to do once you've already had everything else lifted, sculpted, or tucked? You focus on your chin, apparently.

Just in time for the Bravo reality show's 100th episode, "Real Housewives of Orange County" star Vicki Gunvalson has debuted her newest improvement: A more prominent chin. And her catty frenemies Tamra Barney and Gretchen -- no strangers to plastic surgery themselves -- didn't waste any time picking apart her new look. “Does she not look different, look at her chin!” Barney squeals while showing Rossi a photo of Gunvalson. “She got a chin implant!”

She's not the only one. According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons' 2012 Plastic Surgery Statistics Report, chin augmentations were the sixth most-popular cosmetic surgical procedure -- and the second most-popular type of implant -- performed last year.

"Having a strong chin is not something you can gain via diet or exercise," Dr. Darrick Antell, a clinical professor of surgery at Columbia University, told The Today Show. "You're either born with it or you see a surgeon to improve it."

It's especially popular with men and women who are facing 50. "They're getting loose skin under the jaw line," Antell points out, "and a chin implant can make an immediate improvement."

The new chin was probably part of 51-year-old Gunvalson's post-divorce makeover, the N.Y. Daily News reported, but Gunvalson isn't the only celebrity sporting a stronger jawline lately. Another Bravo star, Stassi Schroeder of "Vanderpump Rules," recently revealed that she had her chin done in high school. Heidi Montag re-did her chin when she had everything else on her body done in 2010. Bristol Palin suddenly appeared with a much more well-defined jawline in 2011. And another "Real Housewives" star, Alexis' husband Jim Bellino, reportedly got a chin implant as well. (Worth noting: The person who pointed out Jim's new chin was Tamra, too, so many chins are just her thing.)
