Everyone’s Getting Short Hair!

Chopping off all your hair used to have a severe and specific rep, it made a statement to the world that it was time to get serious, that you were in the market for an extreme life change (breakup  haircuts, anyone?), or you were ready to surrender to the no-nonsense, all-practical look adopted by many in the post-55 set.

But lately, we're noticing more and more women making a style statement with their shorn 'dos and taking it all off  has become, without a doubt, the chicest thing to do in Hollywood right now. Today's short look came from Jennifer Lawrence, who shared a pic of her freshly-cut pixie style.  Earlier this week Jennifer Aniston shocked us by casually stepping out in a messy ear-grazing bob. Before that, Pamela Anderson wandered the beach with a pale blond buzz cut, looking more like Joan of Arc than America’s favorite sex bomb.

If you’re into the idea of doing it, look to Lawrence’s cool fringey pixie: It’s amazing what a couple extra inches can do. When Jean Seberg and Mia Farrow put the pixie chop on the map back in 1968 it was iconic, super-short and absolutely final. This more modern variety has that shock of length at the front so you can play around with and create a variety of looks — and ultimately, feel a little less grown up. — Charlotte Rudge, Shine Staff
