People ask me all the time if I wear colored contacts-sometimes my eyes are blue-gray, sometimes blue-green, and other times intense emerald green. My secret is eyeliner. It's the makeup artist's equivalent of a magic wand. Once you find the liner (or shadow) that gives you the eye color you've always dreamed of, you will be hooked.

Blue Eyes:
To make blue eyes look electric, try a terra-cotta-colored eyeliner, like Chanel Stylo Yeux Waterproof Eyeliner in Grenat. I understand it sounds weird, but the red undertones play off blue eyes in the most intense way. You don't need as much as this model is wearing-just a skinny line wedged into your upper lashes is enough. Finish with black pencil at the outer corners.

Green Eyes:
Any variation of purple can transform green eyes into a surreal shade. Try Yves Saint Laurent Ombres 5 Lumières in 4 and do a gradation: Line the upper lashes with deep plum, dust purple lightly across the lids, and sweep lilac along the brow bones. If that much purple intimidates you, take baby steps: Try plum mascara, like Yves Saint Laurent Mascara Volume Effet in Bourgogne.

Hazel Eyes: Hazel eyes are a mix of gold and green, and you can really take your pick. To play up the gold, cover the lids in a bronze shade, like Nars Cream Eyeshadow in Savage, or do the milder version and line lashes with Smashbox Limitless Eye Liner in Golden Ivy. Either way, smoke out the bronze past the outer corners. Feeling green? Swap the bronze for teal shadow or liner.

Brown Eyes: Anything warm and metallic will bring out the gold flecks in brown eyes-and this is a very good thing. Those subtle flecks add richness and depth to your eyes. Use your finger to apply Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Cream Shadow in Copper or M.A.C. Paint Pot in Bare Study along the upper lids, smudge it a little, and finish with heaps of black mascara.
