The Hosts of 'The Talk' Went Makeup Free for All the World to See; Brave or so What?

For whatever reason, it's always a big deal when celebrities are caught without their "faces on." Heck, tabloids sell entire issues based on roundups of stars caught makeup-less by the paparazzi. And, even legit magazines like "Allure" and "People" have yearly features wherein celebrities "bare all."

But is it just me or do those famous "makeup free faces" still appear to have on a smidgen of mascara and lip gloss?

So imagine my surprise this morning when I clicked on photos of "The Talk" co-hosts (Sharon Osbourne, Julie Chen, Sara Gilbert, Aisha Tyler, and Sheryl Underwood) removing their makeup during yesterday's season three premiere of the show and they were truly fresh faced!

And the co-hosts weren't the only women to go on camera looking like they just woke up (in a good way). Guests Jamie Lee Curtis, Melody Thomas Scott, Michelle Stafford and members of the audience also went "nude" for the occasion.

Talk about brave. This is the age of HD TV after all. As much as I would love to say I could join them, the truth is I have trouble leaving the house without at least my mask of tinted moisturizer. For the record, Julie Chen admitted to the audience that she'd had a chemical peel over the summer to prepare for her cosmetics-free closeup, but still, they all looked great.

Which prompts the question: Is it a big deal for stars and regular people alike to go makeup-less? Or is it just something the media tries to play up as shocking when it really isn't?
