Apparently public makeup testers are replaced only once a year on average and aren't ever properly sanitized, so it's not surprising that a pretty significant amount of them harbor more bacteria than you'd ever want to come in contact with. My advice? Just be vigilant about your skin, and ultimately your health. Theoretically, thousands of people have played around with those communal cosmetics (and it's pretty safe to assume that they all aren't washing their hands after they leave the loo), so when you're done testing, make sure to immediately remove it all with an antibacterial wipe or an alcohol pad. If you don't have one handy, ask a sales associate to help get you cleaned up with something sterilizing-they'll always be able to help.
Are you as disappointed by this report as I am? Do you even use department and/or drugstore makeup testers regularly? If so, have you ever gotten sick, or an infection after used shared cosmetics?
