Meet Your Match: 5 Celebs Show Us How to Dress for Our Skin Tone

The other day, someone mentioned out of the blue that they noticed I wore a lot of pinks and purples. I didn't really know how to take the comment as I hadn't actively considered my clothing color preferences before. But when I came home and peeked inside my closet, a sea of pinks, florals and violet shades flooded my eyesight. Though I hadn't realized it before, I then observed my closet was something akin to Barbie's dream house.

For whatever reason, I can't help wearing these colors. I naturally gravitate toward them. I'm in my early 30s, and I've simply learned what looks good on me and what doesn't. The cut of a certain piece of clothing, the the size and, believe it or not, the color all matters when picking out what outfit to don for the day. My natural hair color is dirty blonde, and my skin color is olive. Considering my physical features, here's an example of what that means clothing-wise: Orange, yellow and green make me looked washed out, yet a purple sundress looks perfect on me.

Turns out, celebrities -- or, more likely, celebrities' stylists and beauty teams -- have taken note of their physical features and accordingly have selected properly colored clothing. You, too, can learn how to color-coordinate by your skin tone! I'm here with a few examples to show you how. So let's get physical! Read on, and assess for yourself what colors you think work and which simply don't.

Here are 5 celebs who dress for their skin tone:

1.) Beyonce

Gals with dark skin like Beyonce have it good because they can totally sport the best of both worlds: light and rich colors. Pink, yellow and lavender typically creates a nice contrast against this skin tone and brightens this kind of complexion. Darker shades like red and black, on the other hand, are also flattering because they bring out the skin's undertones. No wonder Beyonce wears so many pinks and yellows!

2.) Jessica Alba

If there's one personal style I absolutely love, it's Jessica Alba's. She looks great in eye-popping colors, and she obviously knows it! Brunettes generally belong to the autumn camp. They look best in oranges, browns and other earthy tones. Black and white, on the other hand, typically doesn't help them show off their gorgeous skin tone and hair color. So if you're like Jess, stick to the bright hues, and you'll be sure to stun.

3.) Julianne Moore

If you have freckles and light skin like actress Julianne Moore, you are a springtime-color gal, meaning yellows, greens and blues are most flattering on you. As for shades to avoid, just like the autumn camp, steer clear of dreary black- and white-colored clothing. As you can see, Julianne knows what works for her and definitely works it with the light green and blues. No wonder she always glows!

4.)
Monica Bellucci

Italian actress
Monica Belluccihas a gorgeous olive and sometimes tan skin color. She looks great in a metallic lilac gown because she has natural black hair, dark brown eyes and a light complexion! As you can see, she also wears darker shades like black because for this skin tone and her other physical features, this hue makes her features pop.

5.) Nicole Kidman

Winter skin tones can be pale, yellow or dark with blue or pink undertones. Sharp colors like black and blue are great for winter skin tones, but light browns won't help these people out. So if you belong to this give group, give them a wide berth. As you can see here, Nicole loves to stick with darker colors, which is perfect for her complexion!
