Do You Use More Than Two Products in the Morning?

Here's a fun fact: A recent survey of 1,000 U.S. adults showed that 36 percent of U.S. women use only one or two (I repeat: ONE OR TWO) products to get ready in the morning. The question defined products as hair, makeup, and moisturizers, specifically. Only 7 percent of women polled used seven or more products. Am I the only one that thinks this number seems terrifyingly low? I use one or two products just under one eyeball on any given morning.

And so, I did a little experiment on myself this morning (for science!): Each time I used a product, like undereye primers, highlighters, etc., I set it aside to be counted. The result? Fifteen. And I haven't even gotten to hair or body. With those in the mix, the total is north of 20. As an Allure assistant, I understand that my number might (definitely) skew high on the scale, so I also polled my Facebook friends. Their average number seemed to be more than five but less than ten, a totally believable amount.

Everyone I polled at the Allure office also considered this number to be unmistakably false. Even the most low-maintenance women I know use some type of lipstick, hair product, or cream in the morning. Did the women polled just forget what products they happen to use? A morning routine can sometimes feel like it's on autopilot, which is why I'll now urge my Facebook friends to consciously count the number of products they use. I bet it will be more than they think.

Do do you believe that most women use only one or two products a morning? How many do you use?
