These Rose Scents Smell Better Than Flowers

These rose fragrances are a must-have for February 14.
These rose fragrances are a must-have for February 14.

This Valentine's Day, treat yourself to some roses of a different sort: one of these romantic, rose-infused scents we love. Some are classics, some are new, but they are anything but stuffy.

1. Givenchy Very Irrésistable ($71 for 1.7 fl oz)
While this fragrance from Givenchy features a blend of five different roses and launched in 2003, it still feels young, fresh, and not too-flowery.

2. Chloé Eau de Parfum ($75 for 1 fl oz)
The original Chloe, one of my current favorites, delivers a hint of rose along with peony, freesia and lily of the valley. It's a clean, sophisticated scent that's certainly romantic without being too girly. But for the real rose lover, Chloe now has an edition of the original, Roses de Chloe, a more romantic twist that highlights fresh cut roses.

3. Lancôme Tresor Lumineuse ($52 for 1 fl oz, launched in 2013)
Like a sweet scent? This modern twist on the classic Tresor is lighter and features praline as the top note, followed by damask rose and violet leaf, but is anchored by the same base notes as the original, vanilla and musk.

4. L'Occitane Rose 4 Reines ($50 for 2.5 fl oz, launched in 2009)
Featuring a blend of four different roses, this offering from L'Occitane is probably the rosiest of the bunch, and is enhanced by touches of bergamot, current and violet. It's warm, feminine and romantic, perfect for date-night.

5. Love 2 Love Fresh Rose Peach ($9.95 for 3.4 fl oz, debuting on February 14)
This fragrance is ideal for those who love a fruity scent. This new fragrance, available at Walmart on Valentine's Day, combines peaches with rose for a young and sweet fragrance.

6. Paris Eau de Toilette by Yves Saint Laurent ($65 for 1.6 oz)
What is more romantic than a fragrance named after the city of Paris? This woody floral is definitely a classic scent (it's been around since 1983) that has rose in its top and middle notes surrounded by iris, violet, and lily of the valley.

7. Aerin Evening Rose ($110 for 1.7 fl oz)
Another fragrance for the true rose lover. The rose notes are topped with cognac and blackberry, while the base of incense gives it warmth and spice. Not to mention, the chic, minimal bottle is absolutely gorgeous.
