Would You Splurge on Real-Gold Polish?

Not all over-the-top manicures look over-the-top at first. Exhibit A: The new Mariah Carey OPI polish, Limited Edition Pure 18K White Gold and Silver Leaf Top Coat, available in nail salons this month.

Yep. Real 18K white gold and real silver leaf -- in nail polish! (Would you expect anything less from Mariah?) Frosting fingers and toes with real precious metals sounds a smidge crazy -- and at $30 it is pretty pricey for nails -- but it's actually quite subtle and beautiful.

The polish has a clear base with flecks of white gold and silver. It looks a bit like chunky glitter from far off, but since it's made of gold and silver leaf, it feels much smoother on your nails.

Paint one coat on clear nails and you've got fabulously-flecked tips; a coat over pale polish and you've got a gorgeous frosting effect; or go bold with a navy base, and you'll have a dramatic, winter-worthy combo.

Our fave part? Like every other OPI polish, this stuff comes with an awesome wide brush that makes it crazy-easy to cover your whole nail in one or two swipes.

Would you rock 18K gold polish, or are silver and gold reserved for jewelry in your world?
