The Summery Lipstick Color Hailee Steinfeld Wore Last Night is EVERYTHING, and I Know Its Name

Yes, yes, yes. The lipstick shade Hailee Steinfeld wore to last night's CFDA Awards is exactly what we all need in our lives this summer. It's not quite orange, not quite red--it's persimmon.

"Persimmon lips are fresher and more youthful than classic red, and they're the perfect way to get glam for summer because they're playful and not too formal," says makeup artist Nick Barose, who created this look. "We used Chanel Rouge Allure Lipstick in Excentrique. Apply it directly from the tube, no liner, then clean around the edges with a lip brush and Q-Tip." He threw the tube in Hailee's clutch so she could touch up her lips as needed throughout the night.

Then there's the matter of what to put on the rest of your face when you're wearing orange-y lipstick. "To tie in with the persimmon theme, I used the same color powder blush but applied with a light hand so it didn't compete with the lips," says Nick, who chose Dolce & Gabbana The Blush in Sole. On Hailee's eyes: bronze cream eyeshadow and chocolate-brown eyeliner, with two coats of mascara.
