Warm Up This Winter with a Heated Eyelash Curler

I was at the gym the other day and noticed that like six different women where using old-school metal eyelash curlers. And I have to ask, why oh why is that everyone's go-to? I mean, they do the job, but when unless your a makeup artist, there's an easier way, people: the heated lash curler.

But don't click away! I know -- heated anything near your eyes sounds terrifying. But these things are more nice and warm as opposed to curling-iron hot. And, if you're anything like me, curling lashes without having corrective lenses in -- or glasses on -- means you inevitably clamp down on your poor lil' eyelids. I mean, there's something slightly Clockwork Orange about those metal things, don't you think? Which is, naturally, another reason I champion the heated lash curler.

A few our staff loves right now? Talika Heated Eyelash Curler is great for newbies, as it has a wide grip and is easy to place on (just) your lashes. Japonesque's adorable pink mini is great on-the-go; industry folks love the ones from Sephora and Panasonic, too.

But me? I especially love the Blinc Heated Lash Curler. Its head is bent a little, which makes it easier to get that super-pretty lash lift.

Besides getting all warm and cozy with your heated curler, know that it's also a one-size-fits-all kinda deal -- much easier than a standard metal clamp curler, where it can be hard to ensure you've gathered all your fringe before pressing down on it.

Turn it on before you even start to do your makeup so it's nice and warm when you're ready to curl. After you've done everything besides mascara, place the curler's comb at the outer corner of your eyes and at the base of your upper lashes, so that the heated side is facing up. Pull up your eyelid just the tiniest bit and turn the curler so the comb faces your eyelid; then count to five. (Disclaimer: Don't freak out. I'm super clumsy and I've never burnt myself with the thing.) Don't freak out here, btw - I've literally never burned myself with one of these guys (and I'm pretty freaking clumsy).

Repeat this with the inner half of your lashes, then repeat on your other eye. Finish with a coat or two of amazing mascara.

Consider this my PSA for happier lashes.
