4 Healthy, Practically-Instant Breakfast Ideas

We know you're busy. But that's no excuse for skipping the most important meal of the day. Check out these easy b-fast ideas, courtesy of Hungry Girl...

Egg-Mug Mania

All you need is a large coffee mug, nonstick spray, a few simple ingredients, and a microwave, and you can have a hearty breakfast for one. First spray your mug so your breakfast doesn't stick to it. (You'll want every last bite!) Then add 1/2 cup of fat-free liquid egg substitute, like Egg Beaters Original -- no messy egg-cracking involved! Microwave for about a minute and stir. Add your guilt-free goodies of choice -- we like light cheese wedges (like the kinds by The Laughing Cow), chopped extra-lean deli meats, precooked real crumbled bacon, and even hot sauce. Microwave for another 45 seconds to a minute, until just set, and you're good to go. If you're heading out the door, try stuffing the contents of your mug into a high-fiber pita. So delicious and portable!

Cold B-fast Bowls

It's easy to whip up a no-cook layered breakfast bowl with lots of protein and fiber. Just start with fat-free yogurt (whatever flavor you like; even go for Greek yogurt) or fat-free cottage cheese. Then add no-calorie sweetener, lots of chopped fruit (packed in juice, fresh, freeze-dried, or unsweetened and frozen), and some crushed low-fat graham crackers or a small handful of cereal. The end result is a filling and pretty breakfast that's ready in minutes.

Lunch-Like Morning Sandwiches

Not a big fan of breakfast foods? Spread a light cheese wedge onto an English muffin and top with a few slices of extra-lean deli meat. You can even make your sandwich using thawed-from-frozen waffles as a bread substitute. Fun! Or how about a guilt-free pizza bagel? Use one of those 100-calorie slim bagels, like Thomas' Bagel Thins, and then top with pizza sauce, chopped light string cheese (built-in portion control!), and a few pieces of turkey pepperoni. Yum-azing!

Frozen Finds

If you're feeling lazy or time crunched (we totally understand), there are some great frozen breakfast picks you can find in the supermarket. We especially love Weight Watchers Smart Ones English Muffin Sandwiches (they'll squash your craving for fatty drive-thru sandwiches) and the entire Jimmy Dean D-lights line (everything from b-fast bowls to sandwiches, all guilt-free). Keep a few of those in your freezer at all times.
