An awesome autumn treat. An awesome autumn treat.Halloween is a great time to involve your children in making crafts and treats. And this fun family activity is a craft plus treat, all-in-one! Kids of all ages love marshmallow treats, but did you know that you can color them? And, mold the still-warm treats into all kinds of shapes? These little pumpkins are easy to make and perfect for Halloween! Our whole family had fun creating our little pumpkin treats, and I bet your family would enjoy making them, too!

Directions

1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat.

2. Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted. Remove from heat.

3. Add a little food coloring to create a nice, bright orange color.

4. Add crispy rice cereal. Stir until well-coated.

5. Allow to cool, until easy-to-handle, yet still warm. Cover the mixture to retain warmth while you make your pumpkins. (If it cools too much, place the mixture into a microwave-safe bowl, and warm for a minute or two on a medium setting.)

6. Butter your hands. Roll a small handful of the marshmallow-cereal mixture into a ball.

7. Set the ball on waxed paper, or a lightly-greased cookie sheet.

8. With your thumb, press an indention into the center. Flatten the "pumpkin" slightly with the palm of your hand, if needed.

9. Unwrap a chocolate role candy, and bend slightly.

10. Press the candy into the indention of the pumpkin.

11. Repeat with remaining mixture, creating as many serving-size pumpkins as you like. These are best if served the same day.

12. Enjoy your pumpkin treats, and have a happy Halloween!
