Bake & Win in EatingWell's Cookie Contest
This is my first summer working at EatingWell and I recently found out it's going to be filled with cookies. (Good thing I'm planning to ride my bike to work most days!)
During the summer months the Test Kitchen staff will test all our readers' entries for the 3rd Annual EatingWell Holiday Cookie Contest. This year's winners will be featured in a "Cookie Swap" article to appear in the November/December 2008 issue of EatingWell Magazine.
While "healthy" isn't usually a term that one associates with cookies, the ones we test meet the EatingWell nutritional guidelines while still being sweet and satisfying. Each year EatingWell gets dozens of entries for healthy holiday cookie recipes. We bake them up in our Test Kitchen and then narrow the entries down to 10 semi-finalists. On one delicious day, more than 30 staff members and interns at EatingWell take on the serious job of taste-testing the top 10 semi-finalists.
After sampling the goodies (with palate-cleansing milk between bites), we vote for our top six favorites, giving a double nod to the cookie we think is most deserving of the grand prize-a $2,000 "Baker's Dream Kitchen" gift certificate from Cooking.com-with five runners-up receiving a $200 gift certificate from Cooking.com.
Plus, each of the six finalists will receive EatingWell products-The EatingWell Healthy in a Hurry Cookbook, The EatingWell Serves Two Cookbook, a year's subscription to EatingWell Magazine and an EatingWell wall calendar. In addition, one Readers' Choice winner will receive a $200 gift certificate from Cooking.com.
Think you have a winning recipe? Take one of your favorites and give it a health-wise makeover (see guidelines here). Submit your holiday cookie recipe by June 2, 2008. All recipes received by EatingWell will be entered into the contest. Winners will be notified no later than September 15, 2008.
And later this year, don't miss your chance to vote on www.eatingwell.com for your favorite finalist recipe in the 2008 Readers' Choice Sweepstakes. When you vote, if you enter your e-mail address you will be automatically entered in our "Cookie Swap" Sweepstakes for the chance to win a stand mixer of your choice from Cooking.com (up to a $550 retail value).
