Let's face it, being a kid is hard. There are sooo many things you can't do. So, teaching your kids to cook is a great way to encourage independence, get them off of electronics, and help them feel in control of part of their day. Having a few basic recipes is a good way to get kids kickstarted in the kitchen. It's easy for them to learn how to make scrambled eggs or pancakes for breakfast. Quesadillas and 2-minute tomato soup are simple lunch starters, and for dinner, try chili or these deliciously simple ranch chicken bites. They are a great way to start building their abilities.

With this recipe, they'll need some adult supervision for chopping chicken and sliding the baking sheet into the oven, but otherwise, the prep and roll-up is simple and super kid-friendly. All you gotta do is grab a roll of pre-made dough, call your kids into the kitchen, and get cookin'!

Ranch Chicken Bites
Ingredients
1 tube crescent roll dough (I used Pillsbury)
1 1/2 cup rotisserie chicken, finely chopped
2/3 cup cheddar cheese
1/3 cup ranch dressing

Directions
1. Preheat oven to 400 degrees.

2. In a large bowl, combine chicken, cheese, and ranch dressing.

3. Open and unroll crescents. Spoon chicken mixture into the large end of the crescents. Wrap dough around the chicken mixture until it is enclosed.

4. Place rolls on a baking sheet and cook in preheated oven for 8 to 12 minutes, or just until golden brown.

5. Serve with a romaine and tomato salad with Italian dressing or oil & vinegar.
