The fudge pop is a pretty interesting frozen treat, when you think about it. It's not exactly an ice cream bar, as it's not exactly frozen chocolate ice cream on a stick. It has a gooier, fudgier consistency than chocolate ice cream, and a different flavor altogether.

In order to impartially rank all these fudge pops, we tasted them all side by side, and rated them on several parameters: texture, chocolate flavor, creaminess, and overall enjoyment factor. A good fudge pop doesn't immediately begin to melt when it's taken out of the freezer, melts evenly when eaten like a lollipop, and retains a little bit of chew when eaten like a candy bar.

So which fudge pop came out on top? The results might surprise you.

Our selection for the Best Store Bought Fudge Pop is:

Tofutti

In a major upset, our panelists preferred the bar that had no dairy in it whatsoever. The richer chocolate flavor was overwhelmingly liked, and a few panelists noted that it tasted like a great brownie. It held its shape well, had a fudgy (if not very creamy) consistency, and had our tasters returning for more. It might be surprising, but Tofutti's chocolate fudge bar, with only 30 calories, no fat, and NutraSweet, was a clear winner.
