Dessert is one of the hardest things to cut out of the daily routine when going on a diet. So if you absolutely must indulge, indulge in moderation. We turned to our most trusted cookbook authors and bloggers for some easy dessert recipes that don't break 300 calories per serving.

We know what you're thinking - great, so I'll be eating cupcakes made out of sawdust and ice cream that doesn't even live up to the name. Or I'll have to eat mouse-sized portions and leave the dinner table feeling unsatisfied. Not this time, though, maybe it's still OK to have dessert.

A fabulous dessert, with no added oil or refined sugar, but packed with flavor!

INGREDIENTS
• 2 avocados, peeled, pitted, and cut into chunks
• 1 banana, peeled and cut into chunks
• 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
• 1/2 cup dates, pitted, soaked in water for a few hours, and drained
• 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

DIRECTIONS
Combine all of the ingredients in a food processor until smooth, scraping down sides of the bowl as needed. Transfer to a bowl or individual serving bowls and chill in the refrigerator for several hours before serving.
