Written by Four Green Steps.com |
Thanksgiving is right around the corner and our tummies couldn't be more thankful! This year, show thanks by adding eco-friendlier details to your celebration by reducing waste and making sustainable choices. Here are the easiest ways to Green your Thanksgiving:
Decor
Decorate with fall foliage and anything recycled or that you already have around your house. Acorns, mason jars, wine bottle vases...
Avoid Waste
Pay attention to packaging and avoid disposable plates unless they are biodegradable.
Send guests home with leftovers, or donate leftovers to a nearby shelter.
FOOD
Tofu- Turkey or not Tofu-Turkey...
The most significant decision you make on Thanksgiving depends upon your turkey consumption. Here is an easy (and delicious!) Tofu-turkey recipe, but if you can't bring yourself to have Thanksgiving without a turkey, make sure to choose one from an organic, free range farm. Try to buy all your food locally from farmers markets around town- it's a green choice and your food will be fresher!
