"Milk Shake" Up Your Hot Chocolate with a Scoop of Ice Cream

A sweet way to start 2014.
A sweet way to start 2014.

Hold onto the holiday season for one more day! This hot cocoa "milk shake" is a study in tasty contradictions. The added ice cream makes it both hot and cold, but the mint-chocolate flavor is familiar. I made it with candy cane ice cream and it turned out so good, I almost made myself a second cup! You can try it with any flavor of ice cream you desire (maybe butter pecan or cookies and cream?). The results are sure to be delicious!

Ingredients

1 mug of your favorite hot chocolate (extremely hot - be careful!)
1 scoop of your favorite ice cream
Candy for garnish

Directions

1. Start by bringing water to a boil. Add boiling water to your favorite hot cocoa mix in a pourable, heat safe container and stir.

2. In mug, place one scoop of your favorite ice cream. Slowly pour hot cocoa over scoop of ice cream in the mug. Let it sit for 1-2 minutes. This will help the cocoa cool a little and help the flavor of the ice cream incorporate into the cocoa.

3. Garnish with candy if desired and enjoy!
