The Worst Sandwiches Money Can Buy

We went looking for the most calorie-packed item on the menu at popular national sandwich shops. Here's what we found. Warning: It's not pretty...

Arby's: Ultimate BLT Sandwich

PER SERVING (1 sandwich): 820 calories, 44g fat, 1,690mg sodium, 78g carbs, 5g fiber, 18g sugars, 32g protein

Considering that this is a) not even a super-large sub, b) part of the wholesome-sounding Market Fresh lineup, and c) often accompanied by a side dish (potentially a fried potato item), it's a bad choice. Sorry to be blunt, but it is what it is.

Schlotzsky's: Deluxe Original-Style Sandwich

PER SERVING (1 medium sandwich): 956 calories, 46g fat, 4,048mg sodium, 80g carbs, 5g fiber, 10g sugars, 55g protein

In terms of calorie-counting, the word "deluxe" is rarely a good thing. And this sandwich is no exception. So unless your goal is to get as much deli meat into your system as possible, you'll probably want to avoid this thing. Check out that sodium content -- YIKES!!!

Subway: Meatball Marinara

PER SERVING (one 12-inch sandwich): 1,160 calories, 46g fat, 3,060mg sodium, 140g carbs, 18g fiber, 32g sugars, 48g protein

Just because you're at Subway -- home of the Fit Fresh menu, with its apple slices and health-conscious image -- that doesn't mean you can't screw up and order something super-fattening. How would one do that? Easy; get a foot-long meatball sub. Not only is it loaded with calories, sodium, AND fat, it's also got a bunch of sugar -- like more than THREE servings of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. Skip this silly sammie.

Blimpie: Super Stacked BLT

PER SERVING (one 12-inch sandwich): 1,270 calories, 82g fat, 2,870mg sodium, 84g carbs, 4g fiber, 10g sugars, 43g protein

It's true that one wouldn't necessarily walk into a place called "Blimpie" and expect to walk out with a low-calorie sandwich (although, Blimpie did just debut a menu called "The Lighter Stuff"). Still, an upgraded bacon sandwich with TWICE as much bacon as the regular version??? Yup, that's our winner. EIGHTY-TWO grams of fat, people. AHHHHHH!

Potbelly Sandwich Shop: Big Jack's PB&J

PER SERVING (1 "big" sandwich): 1,307 calories, 60g fat, 1,501mg sodium, 158g carbs, 15g fiber, 69g sugars, 43g protein

What we said just about "Blimpie" also applies a shop called "Potbelly." But check this out... the most calorific sandwich on the menu is peanut butter & jelly! YIKES! Who saw THAT coming? We're assuming this thing is loaded with a TON of peanut butter. After all, the Bigs contain 30 percent more filling than the Originals! STEP AWAY FROM THE PB&J!

Quizno's: Tuna Melt

PER SERVING (1 large sandwich): 1,520 calories, 101g fat, 2,020mg sodium, 87g carbs, 5g fiber, 10g sugars, 68g protein

Here we have it. The sandwich that beats 'em all. AND IT'S TUNA?!?!? Worse than the Chicken Carbonara. Worse than the Double Cheese Cheesesteak. This big fat sandwich trumps them all. Do not order it. (And THAT'S an order!)
