Tricky Treat! Candy Corn-Inspired Marshmallows Are a Sweet Surprise

A fluffy tribute to candy corn.
A fluffy tribute to candy corn.

I love candy corn - always have, always will. When I was younger, my mom had a stuffed witch decoration hanging on our front door during the Halloween season. My grandmother made it, and we lovingly named her Broomhilda. Our sweet Broomhilda had a little basket attached to her, and my Mom always kept it stocked with candy corn, so on my way out the door on the way to school and on my way back in, I would always sneak a few! Now that I am a mother, I don't have a Broomhilda of my own, but I make a point to keep our glass pumpkin full of candy corn. But let's face it - you can't make candy corn at home. My kids had tons of fun helping me make these and when they were finished, they couldn't keep their little hands off of them!

Ingredients

1 bag of large marshmallows
1 bag of orange candy melts
1 bag of yellow candy melts

Directions

1. Start by melting the bag of orange candy melts according to the directions on the package. Once they are fully melted, dip each marshmallow, individually, about 2/3 of the way to the top. Pull the marshmallow out and let excess candy melt drip off. Place dipped marshmallows in wax paper until set (you can move the dipped marshmallows to the fridge or freezer to speed up the setting process).

2. In a separate bowl or pot, melt the bag of yellow candy melts according to the directions on the package. Take the now set, orange dipped marshmallows and dip them into the yellow candy melt about 1/3 of the way to the top, leaving a ring of orange candy melt visible. Place dipped marshmallows onto wax paper until set. Remove from wax paper and enjoy!
