As you're reaching the point in your workday when you have to make a run to Starbucks for a latte, stop for a second. Are you really tired, or just dehydrated? If you haven't been drinking enough water, your body might just be asking for some H2O.

Experts are saying that water is the most efficient way to stay energized, not an espresso shot, 5-Hour Energy, or straight black coffee. Water delivers the necessary nutrients and oxygen to our organs, keeping blood pressure and temperature regulated. Without water, our bodies can begin to ache; we might experience dizziness or fatigue.

Everyone has heard the old saying that you have to drink eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day fir optimal hydration. How does that make sense if everyone is a different size? Nutritionist Annette Alfieri says the standard needs to be more customized: you should be consuming half of your body weigh in ounces. If you weigh 140 pounds, your body should be receiving 70 ounces of water everyday. This may seem excessive, but a portion of the water can come from fruits and vegetables as well.
