What shoes go with my jeans?

Quick guide to the best match-ups

Jeans are the go-to staple for practically any occasion. The right pair is not only comfortable, but flatters your figure perfectly. Now, finding the right pair can be tricky. We all know designers do not use standard-anything when it comes to size labels and the cut, length, and embellishments are all over the board.

So once you find the pair that suits your shape and style; take full advantage of it. Footwear that compliments adds a spark to your look. The following tips will help you find the right match-up.

1. Jeans should hit the bottom of the heel

Keep this golden rule in mind when trying on pants. Regardless of the style of shoe or boot you will be wearing, the hem should fall just to the bottom of the heel. If the hem hits above the heel, or higher, your legs will appear shorter and you will lose the benefit of the right shoe match-up.

2. Flared jeans and wedges work, high heels do not

Low-rise jeans with a flare are made to be worn with wedges or platform style shoes. If you do not want any height, then a pair of flats or canvas tennis shoes will work. Leave the heels for another day.

3. Boot-cut and heels

Showcase your pretty heels with boot-cut jeans. Booties or strappy sandals alike look at home peeking out from under boot-cut jeans.

4. Skinny jeans and knee high boots are a match made in heaven

Those knee-high riding boots you have been eying up are the best accessory for skinny jeans. Go ahead and try the tall socks peeking out from the top of the boot and don't forget your cozy fall scarf!

5. Rolled cuffs look cute with flats

Roll those fabulous boyfriend style jeans up, or add a funky peg-leg twist and then highlight a fun pair of flats. Ballet flats or a classic oxford are both great looks. Add a preppy blazer to give it a collegiate style.

6. High waist jeans are begging for heels

Straight legs, high-waist jeans, i.e. mom jeans, are not all bad. There are some very classic shapes that are actually flattering on certain body types. With that said, it is best to add a little height with a kitten heel or Sabrina heels to avoid a frumpy look. Look for short heels with a pointy toe to give your outfit lift and style.

7. Pump up long, slouchy jeans

High heel pumps give long, slouchy jeans the touch of glamor they need. Pumps can be a fun way to add a pop of color to your look. Try a pair of bold red pumps or slip on the zebra print, either one is ready for a walk on the wild side.
