No matter how you define success, it's something we strive for each and every day. Whether your hours are packed with budget meetings or a classroom of energetic first graders, getting from point A to point B isn't always easy. Everything from traffic jams to emergency conference calls can derail our forward progress. You can set yourself up for success by planning ahead and staying focused. Here the five necessities for a successful work day:

A Good Night's Sleep

When we have a lot to do, one of the most common ways to fit it all in is to work later and deprive ourselves of sleep. That may actually lead to lesser productivity however. In fact, recent studies have verified that getting a good night's sleep can improve productivity. When your body and mind are rested and refreshed, you think more clearly, stay focused more easily and have the energy to get through your busy day.

A Healthy Breakfast

Breakfast is indeed the most important meal of the day, yet due to our time constraints, we often skip it altogether.
