Spring 2012 ushers in bold and bright colors applied in fresh new ways. My three favorite runway looks that can easily be worn in real life are the modern red lip, fresh metallics for eyes, and sun-kissed skin with a peach twist.

  1. The Mad Men-inspired red lip will be featured very prominently this season. Shades seen on the runway ranged from rich burgundy go cherry to vivid, orange reds, giving this classic a fiesty new edge. At home, pick a lip pencil in your favorite red tone, then line and fill the entire mouth. Blend and soften with a q-tip. Finally, dab some clear gloss at the center for a really fresh and bold look. 1. Sheer metallic eyeshadows in silver and white give the lids a luminous pearl finish that looks crisp and modern. Don't be afraid to try some of the new cream shadows out there. Apply a thin layer from lashline to brow, and finish with two coats of mascara. Drama! As always, bronzer will play a major role this season, but this year's twist is top it off with a sheer peach blush. Brush a neutral-toned bronzer (one that isn't orange-based) in the shape of a "3" from your temple to your jawline. Then, swirl a shimmery peach blush just on the apples. Finish the look with a golden peach lipgloss, and look like you came back from an afternoon at the beach.
