How to wear spring’s candy colors without looking like an Easter egg
Nothing says Spring 2011 like eye-popping bursts of color and bright accessories, but these candy colors can make you look like an Easter egg if you aren't super careful. We all want to get on the trends and shake off the winter darkness, but not all of us know how to do it without looking silly.
The first thing to remember is that some colors, usually neon, are best left to younger people. If you work in an office or are over the age of 24, you may want to reconsider that look. Beyond neon, all colors are fair game as long as you play it right.
One of the best parts of spring is being able to look at your closet in a new way, too. Bright colors help shake up the old neutrals you have, and if you know how to do it right, you can end up spending very little on your spring wardrobe.

No embellishment: If you want to wear colors, do it simply. You don't need giant buttons or loud statements or ribbons or glitter or bows. Just the color will do. Like this piece from Bluefly:
Wear neutral: If you're going to rock a bright color, do it with something else neutral. Black or navy both work with pink and other colors. Khaki looks really good with orange, as does white, which is a perfect thing to wear in the summer.

Alternatively, you can rock a brightly colored dress with neutral accessories. Want to wear a bright yellow dress? Carry a straw handbag. Like a black dress? Wear a hot pink belt with it.

Keep makeup simple: If you're already rocking bright colors, you don't need to wear it on your face, too. Keep your makeup neutral and simple and you will go much further with colors.
Know your colors: Some women aren't meant to wear orange (like most redheads, for instance). While others aren't meant to wear royal blue. Know your colors and what makes YOUR eyes pop. Just because a color looks great on a mannequin or on your best friend doesn't mean it will look great on you.
Be bold: If you're going to wear the bright colors, have your attitude match. Colors get more attention. If you're wearing bright read, you're bound to turn heads, so work with it, expect it, and like it!
