How to Wear Summer's Hottest Shorts

are my nemesis. At least I thought they were. Until I started seeing some newer styles and ways to wear them. Shorts aren't just for playing soccer or to wear to bed.
They can be dressy and really fashionable -- like this look (right) from Anthropologie. An over-sized sweater that falls below waist, chunky necklaces, and shorts that fit but aren't skin tight. You could wear this with flip-flops or wedges, even a pair of kitten heels, and it's a very polished way to wear shorts and still look put together.

For a dressy pair of shorts, like these Jennifer Lopez Pleated Crinkle Shorts (on sale $28.60) from Kohl's, you can ....
... wear with stockings as seen here from Yes Style. You can try different patterns and colors, too. And wearing something on your legs can get those who are shorts-averse (like me) to open up to the idea. And open up your wardrobe.
Besides a loose, flowy sweater as seen in the first image, you can wear a basic pair of shorts with a simple top. I love how neither of these pieces is tight -- the key in looking glam in shorts is keeping it looser. Doesn't mean baggy, just not skin-tight.

You can also dress up denim shorts, like LC Lauren Conrad Frayed Denim Shorts ($24.99) from Kohl's. White shorts are really hot this season.

And if you didn't want to go so dressy, Old Navy put together this great outfit pairing white shorts with a loose striped top. Stripes are just so French to me -- tres chic.
