Fashion and Beauty Tips to Get Festival Ready

From SXSW to ULTRA, The Thread has brought you all the big fashion moments at this year's music festival circuit. Now with Coachella in full swing, we've got you covered again--from clothing and accessories to makeup and skincare, we've teamed up with Thread viewer and music industry insider, Alex, to tackle multitasking festival style.

Outfits - Our wardrobe stylist, Ariel Rivera, showed Alex some festival-chic options. Together, the two found the perfect looks for work and play. For daytime, Alex and Ariel chose an airy, pastel, sleeveless dress that’s ideal for the hot weather of Indio, CA. They paired it with comfy ankle boots (bonus: they protect those precious tootsies from getting stepped on by concert-goers!) and a structured jacket for any evening temperature drops. For work, they picked a structured shorts suit in an easy and lightweight linen blend--equal parts business and play.

Accessories – Here’s where the outfit gets pulled together, but—surprise, surprise—this time it’s not with an arm party.  For a day of outdoor concert-hopping, Ariel and Alex selected chic and of-the-moment ear cuffs, and add some edge with a detailed baseball hat. Instead of your usual purse or cross-body bag, they tried a backpack. Hands free is the way to be!

Beauty - It's no secret that skin prep is the way to survive any festival--especially one taking place in the southern California desert! We suggest protecting and pampering your face with Olay's new Fresh Effects line. Their Shine, Shine Go Away cleanser prevents that glossy look, even when faced with the hot sun or bright stage lights. After cleansing, we’re opting for Olay Fresh Effects BB Cream--the multitasking cream moisturizes, provides a touch of color and coverage, and protects with SPF15. To finish off Alex's look, celebrity makeup stylist Robin Hamilton showed Alex how to apply a 3-in-1 foundation to get breathable coverage and recommends waterproof mascara and a kiss of coral lip color to complement her warm skin tone.

Now all our music industry insider has to do is pack up her new looks, some rad mirrored sunglasses, a cute water bottle to stay hydrated and a few face wipes and she's ready to take on Coachella!
