Awards Season Hair Styles That Shine

All awards season long, The Thread has been on the red carpet to bring you the newest and most stylish trends--from nails to gowns and just about everything in between. Now we're obsessing on the hairstyles that shined. Celebrity hairstylist Michiko Boorberg teaches us how to do two of our favorite 'dos: Old Hollywood-inspired waves and braided crowns.

For soft, romantic waves with a deep side part, begin by parting hair on the side with a tail comb for a clean line. Prep slightly damp hair with Pantene Pro-V Styler's Extra Strong Hold Mousse and roughly blowdry. With a curling iron, take medium-sized sections of your hair and curl in towards your face. When the curl is removed from the iron, roll the curl back and pin it with a duck-billed hair clip until the section cools. Repeat this process until all of your hair has been curled and pinned. Finally, remove pins and brush out the curls with a flat-bristled brush. For volume and 24-hour hold, finish with a shaping hair spray.

For a braided crown that Heidi would envy, begin by prepping dry hair with Pantene Pro-V Styler's Maximum Hold Mousse and give it all a rough blowdry. Part hair in the center and pull hair in to two low pony tails at either side of your head. Loosely braid the sections (either a regular or fishtail braid will do) and secure at the ends. Pull the braids up and across the crown of your head and secure with pins, hiding the elastic. Finish the look with a light mist of Pantene Pro-V Extra Strong Hold Hairspray.
