A Grammy-themed girls night out

One of our Facebook fans had a brilliant idea: A girls' night out where everyone's styled like their favorite Grammy-nominated artist. So we drove to New Jersey- in the middle of a snow storm!- with celebrity hairstylist Robin Watson-Hamilton and an overflowing wardrobe trunk to create head-to-toe looks inspired by Beyonce, Katy Perry, and Hillary Scott.

When we arrived, friends Kacie, Teresa, and Alyssa, showed us the specific looks they wanted. They all were different from their typical night-out ensembles.

We focused on hair first. Kacie usually wears her long hair naturally curly but she wanted to try one of Beyonce's sleek, straight styles. Our hair and makeup stylist, Robin Watson-Hamilton, stressed the importance of starting with a good foundation to maximize shine and suggested Kacie use Herbal Essences' Touchably Smooth shampoo and conditioner. Robin towel-dried Kacie's hair and then used a round brush to straighten it. For the sleek effect, she ran a flat iron through the hair to tamp down fly-aways.

Teresa loves Katy Perry's shiny tousled waves. Robin applied Herbal Essences' Tousle Me Softly mousse to Teresa's wet hair before blowing it dry and wrapping two-inch sections around a large barrel curling iron. Once the curls were in place, she used her fingers to break them up and set the perfectly imperfect tousles with flexible hairspray.

Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott is Alyssa's style icon. She wanted one of her full-bodied half up, half down hairstyles. Robin had Alyssa prep her hair with Herbal Essences' Body Envy shampoo and conditioner. She applied volumizing mousse before blowing her hair dry with a large round brush. Next, she used a curling iron to create ringlets and pinned each one to the root to set. After she released the sexy, bouncy curls, she teased the top section to give it some height and secured it with bobby pins.

Each look was definitely a departure for the girls and they were so excited to see themselves looking so different. Robin gave them makeup looks that went with their new 'dos and we provided the celebrity-inspired dresses. Kacie, thanks for the great idea!
