Beauty tweaks to get your skin silky smooth this summer

It's finally nice and warm outside, but that means we have a new list of tweaks to make to our beauty routine. Hemlines get shorter, bikinis become a weekend staple, and all the skin we're baring inevitably takes a hit. So to ensure our bronzed skin will look radiant and feel silky smooth, we're arming you with the beauty tweaks to do just that.

Cut back on salty snacks

Skin gets parched in the summer months, and extra sodium consumption can exacerbate that. So swap those handfuls of pretzels with juicy fruits such as watermelon, cantaloupe, and mangoes. These fruits are full of carotenoids and can help protect skin from sunburn. (This doesn't mean you should forgo the sunblock!)

Sip on coconut water

We all know that staying hydrated is important year-round, but guzzling countless glasses of water can get boring. Spice it up this summer and sip on coconut water. It's a great alternative to the usual glass of water and helps keep you hydrated.

Minimize the look of cellulite

Boosting circulation in your thigh area can minimize the look of cellulite. When you're in the shower, spend an extra few minutes rubbing your legs with a smoothing scrub.

Invest in a moisturizing razor

In the summer your legs are more exposed than any other part of your body, so give them some extra lovin'. Try Gillette's new Venus & Olay razor. It's the summer secret weapon: Venus's best shaving technology works with Olay Moisture Bars for a best-of-both-worlds shaving and skin experience. With smooth legs, you'll have the confidence to rock any short dress or bikini!

Lock in moisture

After you step out of the shower, apply lotion right away. This will seal in the moisture your skin has just absorbed.

Don't forget the SPF

It seems obvious, but slathering on the sunscreen--one with an SPF of at least 30--is important for many reasons. Opt for ones with zinc, as they're generally nongreasy and nonirritating.

Don't neglect your eyes

Squinting from the sun can contribute to crow's-feet (those annoying little wrinkles around the eyes). So pick up a budget-friendly pair of sunglasses with UV protection. Women with blue or green eyes have heightened light sensitivity, but that doesn't mean brown-eyed ladies shouldn't follow the same rule.
