Best jeans and tee combo for your body type

For most of us the jeans-and-T-shirt combination is at the core of 99 percent of our outfits. We build on them, sure. We add heels and boots, sweaters, and faux-fur vests but our favorite denim and comfortable T-shirt is our base. If you think about it, the combo also happens to be one of the most versatile and affordable tools we have for accentuating our positives and minimizing the rest, simply because there are so many different cuts, washes, fits and colors of both available. In this episode, we highlight the best jeans-and-T-shirt combo to flatter six body types, from pear shape to petite.

It is true that different cuts of denim go in and out of style, but it’s always key to know which works best on your frame. Here’s what we suggest for you, if you are:

Petite

The goal is to lengthen. A pair of high-waisted jeans that flair at the knee paired with an embellished tank thank draws the eye upwards does the trick.

Pear shape

To emphasize the waist and minimize the hips, opt for a pair of high-waisted trouser jeans with a tucked in top for an hourglass silhouette.

Plus sized

Streamlining is the desired effect. A pair of flared jeans in a dark wash will elongate the legs. Make sure the length of your tee hits below the hips.

Apple shaped

Show off your skinny legs with stretchy straight-legged jeans and a loose top, which will hide imperfections in the middle and conceal the belly.

Straight up and down

Showcase your legs with dark skinny jeans or jeggings and add a girly, ruffled to give your naturally boyish shape a feminine edge

Hourglass

Even out your silhouette with boot cut jeans, which minimize hips and a top with a low scoop neck or v-neck to balance out a big bust.
