Doing well, by doing good: Portraits of Hope's ice-skating initiative benefits kids

There's no denying everyone loves seeing a dramatic makeover. And in the spirit of ultra-glam awards season, we're celebrating a transformation that's not only beautiful, but one that benefits far more than just one person. Herbal Essences has teamed up with Portraits of Hope (POH) to transform the ICE at Santa Monica skating rink into a paradise of flowers by hosting a giant-scale art exhibition, with a gorgeous, rink-size painted garden. POH is an organization founded in 1995, originally as a creative therapy program for seriously ill and physically disabled children. According to the POH website, today the non-profit charity has expanded to include, "a wide array of children and adults who participate with their schools, hospitals, after-school programs, and community institutions in high-profile, motivational art, education, and creative therapy projects which transform public landscapes." If you're in the L.A. area this weekend-and oh my, you are lucky if you are-you should definitely check it out: What's better than ice skating by the beach for a good cause?
