How Fearless Are You?

Academy of Country Music red carpet highlights

Our favorite celebrities are the ones who push the limits of fashion,
challenge convention and challenge us to be more creative in our everyday
looks. Here's our list of ladies who have taken memorable fashion risks that
really paid off.

First and foremost on our list of fearless fashion risk takers is. . . Lady
Gaga. Bold only begins to describe this fame monster. Her career is only a
few years old and she already has so many iconic looks: hair bows, no pants,
a dress made of bubbles-it's hard to know which to highlight. But that¹s
the point. Gaga is ever evolving and she inspires us to keep experimenting
as well.

Jennifer Lopez also deserves a place on this list. Remember the sheer
jungle-print Versace number she wore to the 2000 Grammys? The one with the
neckline so low it was below her belly button? Some people balked at the
overexposure, but we say, if you got it, flaunt it!

Another fashion icon who isn't afraid to flaunt her curves is the one and
only Beyoncé. Now, Beyoncé kills it on the red carpet, but more than any dress
she's worn, it's her "Singles Ladies" costume, the one-shoulder leotard, the
sky-high stilettos, the high volume hair, that says "fearless."

If we¹re talking about fearless fashion, there's no way to not include
Madonna. (If you didn't see the "Glee" tribute episode, go watch it right
now.) Every few years Lady M comes up with another piece of pop-culture
fashion history. Is there anyone who doesn't recognize the cone bra she made
famous in 1990 during her Blonde Ambition tour? Actually it was a Jean Paul
Gaultier bra-bodysuit over baggy black pants.

Now, the last lady on our list may is operating on a different stage, but her
choices have been no less influential. Everything Michelle Obama wears is
scrutinized, debated, and most of the time, emulated. We have a long list of
looks we love, but we still think Michelle's choice to wear a simple Michael
Kors shift dress for her official portrait was especially fearless and
inspired. It was a break in convention to show her gorgeous arms, but it was
also completely in line with her signature style: confident, elegant and
modern.

Have you had any memorable fearless fashion moments of your own? We¹d love
to hear about them! Send us an email or post on our Facebook page.
