How to shine from head to toe

I've never met a statement-making sequin dress I didn't love, so one of my favorite trends for spring is shine. We've got bold options (patent leather platforms!) as well as subtler ways to incorporate the trend, like high-gloss hair and shiny pink lips to add sparkle and polish to any look.

You need the right occasion to wear a dress that could double as a disco ball, but when you have one, fabulous sequin numbers - the kind Taylor Swift and J.Lo look so great in - require no accessories. Structured satin blazers in black or white glam up skinny jeans or a pair of cut-off denim shorts. Nude patent leather platforms add shine and sophistication to a sundress, and details like a metallic belt or a bejeweled cocktail ring are fantastic for livening up basics. They do not have to be expensive to look it.

In the beauty department, high-gloss pink lips are the look of choice for Katy Perry and Rihanna, as well as the lovely Emma Stone, who happens to be our new fashion obsession. Also, high-gloss hair is everywhere. Every time I look at a photo of Kate Middleton I want to ask her for her hair care secrets. Whether you've got long, Kardashian-style locks or the new Jennifer Aniston bob or even a super-short pixie, you'll want your hair healthy and vibrant. A great way to add some shine is with Perfect 10 by Nice 'n Easy. It gives rich color, takes 10 minutes to apply, and lasts up to 60 days.

And speaking of hair, if you're thinking about trying a new color, here's something fun. Go to Clairol.com and click on the Perfect 10 tab where you can upload a photo of yourself and virtually try out different shades. Try it and post the results on our Facebook wall!
