A 14-year-old at the Oscars has a particular challenge when it comes to makeup. You don't want to look like a little kid, but too much makeup and suddenly you have an inappropriate Lolita situation. The adorable Hailee managed to walk the line perfectly. She kept her eye shadow neutral, her cheeks dusted with a peachy powder and her lips a natural shiny rose. less

The Oscars is the finale of a long and stressful award season, so you might think stars would save their most daring looks for last. Not so in the makeup department. Old Hollywood glamour- bold crimson lips, gold shadow and long dark lashes-took the night off. The theme of this year's Academy Awards was a tastefully applied eye and a neutral, slightly glossy lip. Most missteps were due to an absence of color rather than too much. Here's a look at the makeup hits (the ladies who proved that it is indeed possible to have a ton of makeup on and still look fresh and fabulous) and, of course, the misses (the ladies who clearly need to add some blush to their makeup bag).
